Fuzzy controller designer: Tank level control

Prof. Dr. Utku Kose, Süleyman Demirel University

The lab controls the level of a tank with a two-input fuzzy controller. The rule table is editable cell by cell, the control surface updates immediately, and a closed-loop simulation compares the fuzzy controller with an on-off controller while the set point changes [1, 2]. A second part lets the width of the membership functions be varied to show how overlap shapes the surface.

Part A: Rule table and control surface

Rows: level error (set point minus level). Columns: level rate. Each cell selects the valve action.

Control surface (colour = valve change)
Closed loop: level and set point
